The Democracy Monument in Central Bangkok was built in 1940 and was designed by Corrado Feroci, who spent much of the 1920s designing monuments for Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. It commemorates the 1932 Thai revolution which ended the absolute monarchy and established Thailand's first constitution.
The height of each of the four wing is 24 metres, signifying the date of June 24, when the country's first constitution was signed.
