The Kalka–Shimla Railway was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the World Heritage Site Mountain Railways of India. The route from Kalka to Shimla involves journey through 103 tunnels and 864 bridges. Shimla is the capital city of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, located in northern India at an elevation of 7,200 ft. Due to its weather and view it attracts many tourists who arrive on the narrow gauge train.
