Visited SIRDI (Satpura Integrated Rural Development Institution) which is non-profit, non-government organization working in the villages and tribal areas of Maharashtra & Madhya Pradesh to strengthen rural society, SIRDI mainly works with women & the rural poor. Located not too far from Nagpur, Maharashtra, in central India. I visited them first in February 2007 and again October 2009. These images are from the 2009 visit.
Many of the villages are BPL (Below Poverty Line) and the villagers in these rural areas live in abject poverty and with dismayal health care facilities. It was refreshing to still see sparks of hope and smiles on the faces.
