Suchit Nanda > Lovedale Station on the Niligiri Passenger Train from Udagamandalam to Mettupalayam. As the Niligiri Mountain Railways (NMR) as it makes its way through the hills & mountains it passes a number of tunnels while taking about about 3.5 hrs to go to Mettupalayam (near Coimbatore) from Ooty. Its a joy to travel on the meter gauge steam locomotives which is one of the oldest mountain railways in India (since 1899). In July 2005, UNESCO added the NMR as an extension to the World Heritage Site of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. Ooty, Tamil Nadu, India. July 2007
